Types of Foundation Investment Assets
CURRENT
A current asset consists of gifts to the University in which the entire gift and any gains of the gift will be utilized. Current gifts are invested in the General Investment Program.As of December 31, 2007, the market value was $59 million.
DEFERRED
Deferred assets are gifts established to provide a stream of income to the donor, and/or any beneficiary (ies), for their lifetime – with the residual amount available to the University. Deferred assets are separately managed in individual accounts. Some examples of deferred gifts include charitable remainder trusts and gift annuities.As of December 31, 2007, the market value was $89 million.
ENDOWED
Endowed assets are gifts maintained in perpetuity. These assets are combined in the Willamette Investment Pool. The University receives quarterly distributions from the Pool. Any returns above the distribution remain invested.As of December 31, 2007, the market value was $445 million.
