UO Foundation supports humanities and social sciences awards

In 2016, the UO Foundation Board of Trustees announced its support for a program that boosts new research projects that have a strong chance of attracting outside funding. Now the UO Foundation is sponsoring a similar program aimed specifically at scholars in the humanities and social sciences.

“The UO Foundation Board of Trustees was inspired by the success of the I3 Awards and the doors it opens for groundbreaking researchers,” board Chair Steve Holwerda said. “We recognize this program as an opportunity to make a direct, impactful investment in the academic excellence of the university, and are proud to support faculty innovation in this significant way.”

UO Foundation Purchases The White Stag Block

The University of Oregon Foundation has acquired the White Stag Block in Portland, Ore., President/CEO Paul Weinhold announced. The UO remains the primary tenant. The UO in Portland connects students to mentoring, networking and internship opportunities, and primarily offers professional master’s programs.

Michael H. Schill becomes 18th UO President
Michael H. Schill began his tenure on July 1, 2015. He previously served as the dean and Harry N. Wyatt Professor of Law at the University of Chicago Law School from 2010 to 2015. Prior to joining the University of Chicago Schill served as the dean of the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law from 2004 to 2009.

Ducks vs. Bucks Giving Challenge

The University of Oregon and The Ohio State University have kicked off a a competition to see which school can rally the most support for its academic programs. Gifts to academics and the UO Alumni Association, including memberships, will all count toward the UO's total.

The deadline is 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 13. More information is available here.

Year-End Charitable Giving Deadline Nears
EUGENE, Ore., December 12, 2014 – The deadline to support the University of Oregon and receive 2014 gift credit is approaching. Gifts must be received by the University of Oregon Foundation at 1720 E. 13th Avenue, Suite 410, Eugene, OR, 97403, on or before December 31.

UO Foundation Purchases 1600 Millrace
EUGENE, Ore. – (June 16, 2014) The University of Oregon Foundation has acquired a building in the Riverfront Research Park for the benefit of the university, Foundation President/CEO Paul Weinhold announced today. The Foundation purchased the 60,000 square-foot building located at 1600 Millrace Drive from GreenHornet Space Agency, LLC, for $8.95 million.

UO Foundation Reaches Endowment Milestone
EUGENE, Ore. – (April 21, 2014) The University of Oregon endowment has reached an all-time high market value of $600 million, UO Foundation President/CEO Paul Weinhold announced today.

UO Foundation endowment performance ranks in top quartile
EUGENE, Ore. – (Feb. 5, 2014) The University of Oregon Foundation’s strong endowment performance has earned a top-quartile ranking from the National Association of College and Business Officers (NACUBO). In a survey of more than 800 participants, the Foundation’s 13.8 percent annualized rate of return placed it in the top 16th percentile of all universities. The Foundation’s 10-year performance (7.9 percent) also garnered a top-quartile ranking.

UO’s Lewis Integrative Science Building certified LEED Platinum
EUGENE, Ore. – (Jan. 3, 2014) – The Robert and Beverly Lewis Integrative Science Building recently became the first structure on campus and the first higher education laboratory in Oregon to be awarded Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum certification, the highest possible certification, by the U.S. Green Building Council.

Lundquist College of Business graduate programs receive another top 10 sustainability ranking
EUGENE, Ore. -- Just a month after being ranked ninth worldwide for sustainability by Corporate Knights, the graduate programs at the University of Oregon’s Lundquist College of Business were ranked No. 8 internationally for sustainability in Net Impact’s “Business as UNusual: The Student Guide to Graduate Programs 2013.”

Foundation Trustees Return to Campus for Fall Meeting
The University of Oregon Foundation Board of Trustees is returning to campus for its Fall 2013 meeting Thursday, Oct. 24. More than 30 Trustees, who serve as the Foundation’s governing body and fiduciary, will travel from as far as Scotland and Singapore to participate.

Univeristy of Oregon fundraising tops $200m
Giving to the University of Oregon surpassed the $200 million mark during fiscal 2012–13, a banner year highlighted by a large increase in gift commitments providing student, faculty and research support. Individuals, companies and foundations contributed 41,460 gifts and pledges helping propel the university’s endowment to a record level.

Jon Anderson Appointed Board Chair
Jon Anderson, who will serve as Chair of the Board of Trustees through June 2014, says he looks forward to working closely with Foundation President Paul Weinhold and other Foundation staff during what he calls an “exciting” time.
